After holding the position of the first flute at the prestigious Los Angeles Philharmonic, Julien Beaudiment is now first solo flute of the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon concducted by Daniele Rustioni and professor at the Conservatoire de région de Rueil Malmaison (Paris) as well as at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon where he succeedes his illustrious prodecessor Philippe Bernold.

He also held the same position in the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He is currently the pnly French musician to habe held this position in a British orchestra and one of the few to so the same in an American orchestra.

Originally from La Rochelle and Bordeux, he crossed the Manche at the age of 18 to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Paul Edmund-Davies. He then entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he obtained the first flute and chamber music prizes in Sophie Cherrier's class.
His years spent in London and Los Angeles will have definitely marked and influenced his life both personally and musically.

His soloist career developed rapidly when he left the Paris Conservatory. He performs as a soloist at renowned festivals and on major international stages such as the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Théâtre des Chams Elysées, the Salle Gaveau, The Marrinsky de Saint Petersburg, the Khumo Art Hall and the Art Centre in Seoul, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, the Chicago Symphony Centre, the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles and many more, accompanied by the Orchestra de l'Opéra National de Lyon, the Marrinsky Orchestra of Saint Petersburg, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, the Stuttgart Kammerorchester, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Seoul Gangsam Philharmonic and many more.

From the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles to the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, through the Concertgebouw Amsterdam or the Royal Albert Hall in London, he performs in the most beautiful halls in the world with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Simon Bolivar of Venezuela, the Estonian Festival Orchestra and many more, under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle, Antonio Pappano, Gustavo Dudamel, Esa Pekka Salonen, Sir Colin Davis, Christoph Eschenbach, Paavo Järvi, Sir Roger Norrington and many others, as well as with musicians like Joshua Bell or Itzhak Perlman and composers like John Adams or John Williams. 

Passionate about chamber music, he is the winner of the Barcelona international duet sonata competition with pianist Laetitia Bougnol. He has also performed with musicians such as the conductors Lawrence Foster, Benjamin Levy, Karl Heinz Steffens, the soloists David Grimal, Sarah Nemtanu, Hartmut Rhode Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Isabelle Moretti or Éric Le Sage.

Julien accompanied choreographers Régine Chopinot and Benjamin Millepied by playing Bach solo, and expanded his activites by recording in London at Abbey Road with pop star Sarah Brightman, in South Korea for the national channel KBS, or in the studio during his American years in Los Angeles for the series "Doctor Who" and "Battle Star Galaktica", as well as collaborating with actors Seth Macfarlane and Julie Andrews, pop stars John Legend, Antony and the Johnsons and Ruben Blades.

He teaches every summer at the international summer academy of Nice, and at the academy of the Forget domain in Canada, as well as at many masterclasses around the world.

In 2025 he was named "Distinguished artist" by the Franco-Canadienne Cultural Exchange through which he was an artist in residence at the University of Toronto.

Julien gives an important place in his lief as an ambassador of the "Reymn Foundation" and as a "Board member" of "Music Beyond", an American association based in New York aied at trainig and supporting young musicians in Africa.

3 records are to his credit, "California dreamin'" for the Klarthe label, and for the Orchid Classics label "Badinerie" in recital with the harpist Marie-Pierre Langlamet, and "Mozart" accomoanied by the orchestra of the Lyon National Opéra.

Paul Meyer is one of the world’s most outstanding clarinettists and performs regularly with leading orchestras in Europe and the USA, the Far East and Australia. He is the dedicatee of over 20 world premieres, including concertos by Penderecki, Berio, Corigliano, Thierry Escaich, Qigang Chen and Michael Jarrell, which Paul Meyer premiered in Salzburg, Amsterdam and Vienna and which have since become part of the standard repertoire.

Alongside his career as a soloist, Paul Meyer has been active internationally as a conductor since 1988. He is the founder of the Orchestre de Chambre d’Alsace, served as John Carewe’s assistant at the Northern Junior Philharmonic in England, and was appointed ‘Associate Chief Conductor’ of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra by Myung Whun Chung in 2007, shaping the orchestra’s international profile primarily through the French repertoire and works by Roussel, Dukas and Saint-Saëns. Paul Meyer is a co-founder of the orchestra’s academy for young emerging artists. From 2009 to 2012, Paul Meyer was Principal Conductor of the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra and has since worked with renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, the Orchestre National de Bordeaux, the Hamburger Sinfoniker, the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danish Symphony Orchestra and the China Philharmonic Orchestra.

His artistic output to date has been documented on more than 50 CD recordings for leading labels, including DGG, Sony, RCA, EMI and Virgin; for these, he has been awarded numerous prizes, such as the Fono-Forum, Diapason d’Or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Gramophone and Grammy Awards. Particularly noteworthy are his recordings as a conductor with the Camerata Padova (piano concertos by Mozart and Haydn with JM Luisada), with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège (works by Darius Milhaud), the Brussels Philharmonic (works by Corigliano and Carter), with the Staatskapelle Weimar (Elgar and Walton cello concertos), as well as horn concertos from various periods with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the highly successful CD ‘Bolero de Meyer’ with the Tokyo Kosei Orchestra. His series of play-conduct recordings with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne has won numerous awards.

Among the chamber orchestras Paul Meyer has conducted to date are the following: the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Stockholm Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonia, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra.

In 2012, the French state awarded Paul Meyer the highest cultural honour, the ‘Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres’, in recognition of his musical achievements to date.

Since the 2019–2020 season, Paul Meyer has succeeded Johannes Schlaefli as principal conductor of the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester.
